Bidlaw App
About
In August 2016, I decided to relocate to the U.S. and focus on smart homes, data security for property owners, and innovative development concepts. Upon settling in Los Angeles, I founded Smart Development Group and promptly began operations.
In my initial two years, I immersed myself in city code research, customer needs, and smaller projects to understand the market landscape. During this period, I identified numerous challenges that developers, contractors, and customers faced.
A notable issue was the difficulty in accessing affordable legal services in the real estate sector. The high hourly rates charged by prominent law firms specializing in real estate made their services inaccessible to most players and customers. Motivated by this context, I conceptualized BidLaw, a mobile legal app initially catering to real estate, where attorneys compete to offer the most cost-effective legal fees. As we commenced coding in 2019, it became evident that the app addressed broader needs beyond real estate, and we partnered with Periger Software to develop a more sophisticated application to reach a larger audience.
BidLaw is a transparent platform meticulously crafted to connect clients with lawyers, aiding clients in identifying the best-fit attorney for their specific needs while empowering attorneys to expand their client base. With the goal of linking 1.3 million licensed attorneys, mediators, and legal professionals in the U.S. to individuals and small to medium-sized businesses seeking cost-effective legal services, BidLaw is poised to stimulate economic growth. Its anticipated impact includes creating job opportunities in the legal sector and fostering business sustainability in the U.S.
BidLaw is envisioned as the premier mobile auction application, where attorneys and legal professionals compete to offer clients the most affordable legal fees.
As the founder of this platform, my responsibilities included designing the platform, leading the coding team, and creating an intuitive user interface with robust backend functionality. Crafting the bidding system was a key aspect of my role, allowing lawyers to bid on cases using a flat fee, hourly rate, or contingency. This approach enables clients to view the range of fees charged by different lawyers. Additionally, I orchestrated the development of the platform's notification system, which alerts clients as bids are submitted, and the case posting system, enabling clients to specify the type of case and their location.
This project provides a unique solution to a common problem faced by clients seeking legal representation: finding an attorney who offers the best combination of expertise, experience, and cost. The platform simplifies and streamlines this process, allowing clients to compare the fees and services of different lawyers and make well-informed decisions. Although the pandemic temporarily halted development for a year, the project successfully resumed in mid-2020. The conceptualization and software development phase, carried out in collaboration with Periger Software, spanned two years.
The finalized solution was launched in December 2023, garnering interest from several venture capitalists. BidLaw aims to attract hundreds of thousands of users within three years.
BidLaw is an initiative of Smart Development Group.
